Shauna served alongside fellow novelists Jane Urquhardt and Greg Hollingshead as a juror for the 2008 Governor General of Canada fiction awards.One hundred and sixty nine novels were submitted this year. The 'GG' for fiction is a $25,000 prize. Five finalists were announced Oct 21 and the winner, announced Nov 18, 2008 is:
Nino Ricci for The Origin of Species.

June 2008
Shauna was a guest of the Banff International Literary Translation Centre to work with Nevena Dichlieva-Krysteva (Bulgaria) on a Bulgarian translation of What the Body Remembers. She participated, along with fellow novelist Elizabeth Hays and the playwright Évelyne de la Chenelière in a panel called Beyond Words. You can read her presentation here.

Shauna gave a reading from We Are Not in Pakistan at Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops
in Milwaukee, WI

Shauna attended the Printer's Row Book Fair in Chicago, for a signing session re A Stranger Among Us. Shauna's story A View From the Mountain is included in this anthology published by Other Voices press.

Vancouver, BC Canada: What the Body Remembers was designated the One Book to read for students of University College of the Fraser Valley. After the students held two bookclub meetings to discuss, Shauna was invited to read and sign her books at the college. Shauna also gave a reading from English Lessons at the Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies and Research, Univ. College of the Fraser Valley. She was featured on the cover of Mehfil.

Shauna gave a reading with other Giller Prize finalists on Oct 31 at the International Festival of Authors in Toronto. She was hosted by The Ragdale Foundation in Illinois for a two-week writer's residency.
