Shauna served alongside fellow novelists Jane Urquhardt and Greg Hollingshead as a juror for the 2008 Governor General of Canada fiction awards.One hundred and sixty nine novels were submitted this year. The 'GG' for fiction is a $25,000 prize. Five finalists were announced Oct 21 and the winner, announced Nov 18, 2008 is:

Shauna was a guest of the Banff International Literary Translation Centre to work with Nevena Dichlieva-Krysteva (Bulgaria) on a Bulgarian translation of What the Body Remembers. She participated, along with fellow novelist Elizabeth Hays and the playwright Évelyne de la Chenelière in a panel called Beyond Words. You can read her presentation here.

Vancouver, BC Canada: What the Body Remembers was designated the One Book to read for students of University College of the Fraser Valley. After the students held two bookclub meetings to discuss, Shauna was invited to read and sign her books at the college. Shauna also gave a reading from English Lessons at the Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies and Research, Univ. College of the Fraser Valley. She was featured on the cover of Mehfil.

Shauna traveled to New Delhi, India where Her Excellency HC Mrs Lucie Edwards and Penguin India released a subcontinent edition of The Tiger Claw at Canada House on January 21, 2005.
She also participated in a discussion event "Words of Women," in conversation with French scholar Maud Girard-Geslan.

Shauna gave a reading with other Giller Prize finalists on Oct 31 at the International Festival of Authors in Toronto. She was hosted by The Ragdale Foundation in Illinois for a two-week writer's residency.
The Tiger Claw became a finalist for Canada's 2004 Giller Prize. Along with the other nominees, Shauna gave a reading at the International Festival of Authors.
